MOTTO

Who?
The National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) is a non-profit charitable organisation dedicated to helping poor Malaysians suffering from end stage renal (kidney) failure who lack access to or cannot afford dialysis treatment.
When?
NKF began operating its first dialysis centre at Jalan Hang Lekiu K.L in 1993. On 8 December 1993, the Foundation was granted tax-exempt status by the government.
Where?
With its headquarter situated in Section 14, Petaling Jaya and branch situated in Penang, the foundation boasts a network of 20 centres nationwide catering for 950 patients who receive haemodialysis treatment.
Why?
The founding of NKF's first dialysis centre was prompted by the realisation that a substantial number of end stage renal failure patients in Malaysia have no access to any form of renal replacement therapy. Currently, kidney patients are required to pay between RM150-RM250 per dialysis treatment in private hospitals.
However, NKF charges RM50 per treatment to those with a monthly disposable household income of RM1,300 and below. Each patient is required to go on an average 13 treatments a month, (i.e. 3 times a week), 4 hours every treatment.
