In today’s competitive global and business environment, it is essential to have a thorough knowledge and understanding of production planning and scheduling so as to reduce the overall manufacturing costs and thus improve productivity. Production planning and scheduling are concerned with the volume and timing of outputs, the utilization of operations capacity, forecasting and developing material requirement plans, managing inventory, and managing for world class competition, just-in-time manufacturing and managing for quality.

Appreciate the accuracy of Master Production Schedule (MPS), and understand the steps and process in doing MPS

Comprehend the definitions and benefits of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and gain knowledge on Bills of Material (BOM) – as critical success factors for MRP implementation
Realize the relationship of Operations Scheduling (OS) with the above subjects. Apply the scheduling techniques (internal focus) and sequencing techniques (external focus) to construct convincing OS
Learn to apply ABC & VED analysis for materials management, and recognize the various costs in inventory. Identify the relativity of quantity discounts in inventory management

Andrew started his consulting and training experience in 1991 as a management consultant attached with a US based consultancy firm. He has extensive consulting experience in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, specializing in the areas of productivity improvement, cost savings, behavioral change survey and training. His clients came from such diverse industries as Electronics & Electrical, Steel Mill, Food Processing, Garment & Knitting, Furniture, Fertilizer, and Yarn/Thread. His last position was the Vice President of Operations before joining the manufacturing fraternity as Head of Departments with multiple responsibilities in the areas of Training, Facility, Industrial Engineering, Productivity, and Safety. Under his leadership, the company won the National Productivity Award in 1999, organized by the National Productivity Corporation (NPC) and presented by the previous Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir. He became the General Manager for an organization listed on the Stock Exchange of Malaysia/Bursa Malaysia before setting up his own management consultancy practice.
In addition to helping his clients enhance their organizational performance through management consulting projects, Andrew currently partners with a number of companies in Malaysia and Singapore to deliver training courses on numerous topics relating to both technical/operational/hard and soft skills subjects. Participants came from as far as Africa and the Middle East to join Andrew’s classes.
Andrew is also an active contributor to the industry. He has been invited to speak in events such as International Conference on Best Practices which was graced by senior officials from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), sharing the stage with Professor Michael Gregory of the University of Cambridge, Mr Dieter Heyl (2007 Vice President of DaimlerChrysler Malaysia), and Dr Marcus Chao, President of Lean China Enterprise Inc.
Andrew has an MBA degree qualification with the University of Portsmouth, UK. His experience in international consultancy has also earned him a membership with the Association of Productivity Specialist (New York), in addition to being a qualified ISO 9000 assessor (QMI/SIRIM). He speaks fluent English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Malaysia.
